Preparation and After Care

The most important thing to prepare for a spray tan is to exfoliate thoroughly 24 hours beforehand paying particular attention to drier areas such as knees, elbows, heels and feet. This will remove dry skin and provide a new, smooth surface for your tan. Exfoliating helps to provide an even coverage and will lengthen the duration of the tan. You must always moisturise the day BEFORE your tan is to be applied, NEVER on the day.

  • Shave or wax and moisturise the night before your application NOT ON THE DAY.
  • Remove jewellery and contact lenses before your session.
  • Be completely free of make-up, moisturiser, perfume and deodorant before your session.

We recommend that you have dark loose fitting clothing to put on after your session. Solution washes out of natural material very easily but tends to stain nylon and lycra materials. What you wear during your spray tan appointment is entirely your choice, many clients prefer to go completely nude to avoid tan lines but you can wear a bikini or the underwear of your choice. Your technician can provide you with disposable underwear if you require.

Tan Aftercare

Follow these steps immediately after your spray tan. Remember you must leave your tan for a minimum of 8 hours or preferably overnight if possible before showering. This will allow your tan to develop fully.

  • Avoid wearing socks, shoes or boots after your tanning session if possible as these can leave marks in your tan. Sandals or flip flops are a good choice.

  • Avoid applying moisturisers or deodorants.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothing for at least 8 hours.
  • Swimming, showering and vigorous exercise must be avoided for at least 8 hours as this can inhibit the development of your tan.

  • Do not shave until 24 hours after your treatment.
  • Do not sit on light coloured fabrics until after you have showered as the colour guide may rub off and cause discolouration.

Remember! When you shower you will see some colour wash off. Don't worry! This is normal and is only the guide colour that your spray tan technician uses when she applies your tan. You will still be left with a beautiful golden tan.

Maintaining Your Tan

It is recommended you follow these general guidelines to maintain your tan:

  • Moisturise regularly using oil-free moisturiser as oily greasy creams will cause tan to fade.
  • Avoid long hot baths and showers as these will speed up exfoliation.
  • Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower. Rubbing your skin will rub off your tan.
  • Swimming pools and sea water can reduce your tan so keep to a minimum.
